Homebrewer’s Guild January Meeting Tonight! Featuring Climax Brewing

Posted in News and Events with tags , on January 20, 2009 by tom

Tonight is the first Homebrewer’s Guild meeting of 2009.  This month the Homebrewer’s welcome Dave Hoffman of Climax Brewing to Burp Castle to talk about beer and brewing. The meeting starts and around 7:30.

The Homebrewer’s are a friendly bunch (and if you are lucky you might even get to try some of their homemade brews…they like to share).  Burp Castle is, as always, open to the public during the meetings.

Cheers,

Cheesy New Year!

Posted in News and Events on December 31, 2008 by eepopporkahah

In addition to an incredible tap list, we will have delicious (debatably nutritious) cheese from Artisanal.

What’s on the cheese board:

La Peral – a crazy Spanish blue made from cow’s milk and sheep’s cream.

Epoisse – velvety, pungent, French washed rind.

Idiazabal – hard smoked sheep’s milk from Spain.

Pierre Robert – a fluffy triple creme with a whole lot of chutzpah, from France.

Standings will have some cheese as well, all from the good ol’ U S of A.

I hope to see you there, mouths full of cheese and beer, shouting Happy New Year with me.

New Tap List Tomorrow

Posted in News and Events on December 30, 2008 by ghostwood

Sorry I missed last week on updating the tap list.  When I left on Tuesday night (12/23) I knew that three of the kegs were about to go, but I didn’t want to put up a list that would drastically change instantly.

I hope everyone had a Happy Holidays!  Stop in tonight to taste what’s on tap, or check back here tomorrow.

Cheers,

Tom

Hello All,

I’ll be at Burp Castle tonight serving delicious beers, and of course there will be some wonderful seasonals in the mix…but in addition to the wonderful beer I will be playing Nontraditional Holiday Music all evening.  While you might recognize some of it, I’m sure there will be a couple new tunes in there for everyone.

Cheers and Hoppy Holidays,

Tom

NYC Homebrewers Guild Meeting: Tuesday November 18, 2008

Posted in News and Events with tags , on November 17, 2008 by ghostwood

Tomorrow, November 18th, is the November meet of the NYC Homebrewers Guild.   The meeting starts around 7:30.  There will be a representative from Sixpoint Craft Ales on hand speaking to the Guild, and our patrons.  Maybe we will hear a little about the Sixpoint bottling plant opening in Williamsburg that Brooklyn Paper mentioned?

Burp Castle is open to the Public during the Guild meetings, and welcomes our patrons learn about beer and brewing from the Homebrewers and their Speaker.  It’s sure to be a good time.

Cheers,

Tom

All Night Election Happy Hour!

Posted in News and Events with tags on November 4, 2008 by ghostwood

Burp Castle is going to have an all night Election Happy Hour!  $1 off all Tap Beers until We close.  Come in and take in the WNYC NPR Election Coverage, and drink Belgian Ale (or American Craft Beer) all night!

GO VOTE! and then come to Burp Castle (and Standings!)

Posted in News and Events with tags , , on November 3, 2008 by burpcastle

After you Vote tomorrow make your way to Burp Castle. We will have NPR Election coverage on the Radio all night (starting at 7pm)! and if you want to see what is going on via CNN you can pop next door and grab a wonderful domestic craft brew at Standings (43 E. 7th Street) and take it in on the big screen. Our good friends at Standings sent out this email to let us know about their event:

Join us this TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4TH (from 6 PM) for our ELECTION ’08 PARTY!!! (CNN COVERAGE WITH SOUND).We’ll have brews representing each candidate such as the SIXPOINT HOP OBAMA and ROGUE OLD CRUSTY. Ideally, HILLARY CLINTON will be on hand to pour the HOP OBAMA in a true showing of party unity. We have also extended an invitation to JOE WURZELBACHER to serve the OLD CRUSTY, however, his STAFF informed us that he will be applying for a plumbers license that evening (apparently it’s what REAL AMERICANS do on Election Night)…

I don’t know how you fall politically, but most of us are hoping this elections goes one way and not the other. Hopefully we will be celebrating.
